The ending makes it so that you can actually argue that the movie was two different stories.
*SPOILERS!*
The ending allows you to interpret the movie either as a straightforward heist story... or you can interpret it as Cobb's team trying to save him from limbo (and again, whether or not he actually makes it out is debatable, too). One of the more interesting ideas I was discussing with a friend who saw it was that Cobb was actually endangering the rest of his team and they did this mock heist as a means to actually do an inception on Cobb. Much like how they concocted an elaborate scheme to dupe Cillian Murphy's character, the whole setup was to convince Cobb that he could redeem himself and let go of Mal, allowing him to either a) find a level of limbo where he could find happiness that wouldn't be available for him in the real world, or
actually come back to reality. Much like how they explain that dreams start in media res, every scene in this movie is very much the same way. It's all purposefully structured and edited to have a similarly disjointed feel, and all the events of the inception are mirrored within Cobb's drama, which makes it rich for interpretation.
I <3 Christopher Nolan
Not to mention, the guy really knows men's clothing. Man, those were some fantastic suits.

Okay...so you know how the old guy at the beginning was supposed to be Saito (the Japanese guy)? WHY DID HE LOOK SO FUCKED UP AS AN OLD MAN. Seriously...he didn't even look Asian and I could have sworn his eyes were sort of green-ish. They should have made that connection more clear...

Oh, I'm pretty sure that was just the crack you were smoking.
(And they showed it was him by showing him young again in the next scene in the exact same room.)

No crack, just weed. But my vision is still 20/20 while stoned and I definitely think the old version of Saito looked a little funny....Ken agreed with me!

Just saw Kung-Fu Hustle for the first time, what an amazing film. It's like what a live-action Dragonball movie should look like in terms of special effects, with touches of Kill Bill and Matrix thrown in for good measure. I now need to see Shaolin Soccer since it's done by the same director.

To be honest, I saw Shaolin Soccer first, so was actually let down by Kung Fu Hustle. Don't get me wrong - I thought it was a fun film. Just that when I saw Shaolin Soccer, it was perfect for what I was craving and absolutely loved it. If you ever get a chance, watch the original God of Gamblers (Chow Yun Fat), then watch God of Gamblers 2, which is a parody of the first one by Steven Chow (the Kung Fu Hustle guy).
